In the lush surrounds of the Scenic Rim, the com-forting aroma of pancetta, basil, and simmering sauces welcomed a group of enthusiastic home cooks into the heart of a truly special experience—an Italian cooking class led by the warm and vibrant Caz Osborne.

Caz, a seasoned culinary traveller and passionate teacher, opens her home and kitchen at Mt Alford to students of all backgrounds and skill levels. Her classes are more than just about food—they’re about connection, confidence, and community. Whether you’re a seasoned cook looking to refine your skills or a beginner eager to try something new, Caz creates a space where everyone feels welcome and supported.

This class was a celebration of Italian flavours and shared stories. Students prepared a colourful zucchini rollatini filled with creamy tofu ricotta—a dish that catered to both vegan and vegetarian diets. They rolled up their sleeves to make gnocchi from scratch, later tossing the pillowy dumplings with crispy pancetta, silverbeet, and a rich parmesan cream. A fresh caprese salad, bursting with local tomatoes and creamy feta, completed the menu.

But the experience didn’t end in the kitchen. After the cooking came the sharing. Guests gathered on Caz’s deck, overlooking the Scenic Rim, to enjoy the fruits of their labour. Plates were passed, stories were exchanged, and laughter filled the air as strangers became friends over a shared love of food.

Students travelled from across the region. From Boonah to the Gold Coast, Lockyer Valley to Brisbane—all drawn by the chance to learn from Caz. Some were returning students, eager for an-other taste of her unique teaching style and warm hospitality.

With every class, Caz Osborne brings more than just recipes—she brings people together. Her love for food and community shines through in every detail, from the laughter shared over “Rustic Italian” dishes to the thoughtful use of local ingredients like Camel Farm feta, Peak Organics tomatoes, and Scenic Rim milk. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning student, Caz’s kitchen is a place where stories are swapped, skills are nurtured, and everyone leaves with a full belly, and a desire to cook something new.
